We are thinking at the moment of a bus driver on upper Madison Avenue who, on a recent Monday, drew his bus close to the curb in a place where buses are not supposed to stop, and opened the door. Then he reached down and picked up a bag of soiled laundry. He hopped off the bus, entered a Chinese laundry, left the bag, and hopped back. As he resumed his journey, we said "Good idea." The driver grinned. "I'm getting married next week, and then I won't have to do that any more,' he said, and added, "She's pretty, too."
